Calvet Varietals Syrah Red Wine is a red wine from France with an intense bouquet of cherry and blackcurrant enhanced with a light delicate spicy note. It's got a palate of potent aroma, a balanced and nicely structured. This southern French Syrah is initially creamy plum and deep blackcurrant fruitiness. But it then takes on some darker notes with burnt toast and cocoa bitterness but with the balancing sweet hit of raisin. Nice but the bitterness from the presumably charred oak barrel staves is a bit unbalancing.
